To the memory of Tamara Alekseevna Sedova
Abstract
Tamara Alekseevna Sedova, doctor of legal sciences, professor, professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Forensic Science of the Law Faculty of the SaintPetersburg State University passed away on January 24, 2017. For more than 50 years she had been working at the Law Faculty starting as an assistant and moving to a position of a professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Forensic Science. In 1954 T. A. Sedova graduated from the Leningrad State University. She worked at the Central Research Laboratory of Forensic Examinations starting as a laboratory assistant and moving to a position of a senior expert. From 1966 until her death, Dr. T. A. Sedova had been working at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Forensic Science of the Leningrad State University (later Saint Petersburg State University). In 1967 T. A. Sedova defended a thesis for the candidate degree in legal sciences on the topic “The Problems of Group Identification”. She has the priority in developing and implementing the method of infrared spectroscopy, in particular internal reflection spectroscopy, into the expert practice. In 1987 she defended a doctoral thesis on the topic “Theory and Practice of Criminal Procedural Evidence Based on the Identification of Objects through Structure and Composition”. Dr. T. A. Sedova is an author of numerous publications which include textbooks, monographs, and scientific articles. Under her supervision 7 theses for the candidate degree have been prepared and defended. For high achievements in science and pedagogical activity T. A. Sedova was awarded a medal “Honorable Worker of Higher Professional Education”.
